This is a year-long residency experience and hybrid teacher role. Match a new special educator and paraprofessional with an experienced (preferably NBCT) mentor special educator (MSE) and trained paraprofessional (para) in a self-contained classroom. Our idea is to develop a system designed to grow and support a network of teacher leaders. These leaders/coaches will support and expand the leadership role of teachers through a joint labor management collaboration. The goal is to develop and retain high quality and effective teacher leaders.
Create an academic coach with lasting impact by appointing teachers who will coach teachers half the day and work as a classroom teacher the other half of the day. With this structure you leverage a master teachers skills and allow them to stay current and refine their craft.
