I think that so many educators are coming in from different fields, and we are also seeing a decline in student teaching from traditional education programs. Student teaching needs to be funded and mandatory. Perhaps the reason we are losing most of our new educators is because of a lack of support and mentoring. Supporting and creating opportunities for teacher-driven learning are critical to both the profession and student learning. What if there was a way to provide all educators with the tools they'd need to run an Edcamp in their district? Edcamps are the most popular form of teacher-led professional development across the country.

There is very little to no career ladder for teachers other than entry into administration. Pay increases in many, if not most districts, are still based on an antiquated model of pay increase by years of experience.
